About our
Pre-school
The
Pre-School Group meets from 9.30 am until 12 noon, Monday to Friday
during local school term time. We also offer an optional lunch club
until 1pm.
We
aim to give positive learning and play experiences to chilren from
the ages of approximately 2 to 5 years old in a caring environment.
We operate Rising 5 activities within the pre-School Group during
the year to prepare the older children for their transition to primary
school.
During
each session we aim to have a period of free play activity with
the use of large apparatus, ride-on toys, sand, water, role play
activity, painting, drama, dance, etc.
There
is a topic for each week and children are asked to bring suitable
items for the Interest Table. There is also a Letter of the Week.
At registration, and while talking about items brought for the Interest
Table, the children are encouraged to express themselves by taking
part in active discussion.
Milk
and snacks are provided during the morning, with a special 'Fruity
Friday' when parents are encouraged to bring in fruit for the children
to share.

After
this, more structured activities are planned, eg: pencil work, puzzles,
educational games, play dough, cutting, sticking and music. Books
are always available throughout the morning, abd children are encouraged
to use book reading in goth Free Play and structured sessions.
The
session ends at 12 noon with a story and a Christian prayer.
Parents
are asked to help on occasions such as visits, outings and special
events. All parents are invited to attend the Annual Genereal Meeting.
We occasionally arrange social activities.
In
the term prior to a child's admission, he/she and his/her parents
are invited to attend a session when the parent will have the opportunity
to talk to staff and see Pre-School group activities first hand.
The child will be encouraged to join in activities with the other
children.
We
endeavour to look after each child as if he/she was our own, and
should a child be distressed or unwell, he/she will be comforted
by a member of staff until a parent or carer can be contacted and
arrives to collect them.
We
look forward to having the privilege of teaching and encouraging
your child to reach his or her full potential.
