"Go and make disciples of all nations"

At the Welcome our mid week small groups are called Life Groups. With the exception of one group that meets during the day at the church, all other groups meet in people's homes on various evenings during the week. The primary aim of the groups is to equip you to better follow Jesus in your everyday life. This is acheived through Bible study, discussion and application. The groups provide great opportunities for deepening friendship and prayer.

Each group has a host and a leader and, to ensure consistency across the groups, they all use the same materials which are chosen by the elders of the church. The leaders are there to facilitate discussion thereby enabling everyone in the group to learn together.

Our Life Groups are designed to be as accessible as possible to all ages and to help with this the groups meet in three ten week blocks each year; you only gave to sign up/commit yourself to one block at a time. This means that after every 10 weeks it will be quite possible for you to change groups or, even stop going for a while if you so wish. This same flexibility also applies to hosts and leaders, the aim being in all of this to encourage greater mixing and interactio of people within the church.

Lastly because most of the teaching material does no last for the full ten weeks, groups will try to have one social event and take part in one joint act of service during each ten week period.

If you would like to join a group please speak with Guy or Sue and look out for the next sign up sheet which will be in the church foyer.

alpha

Alpha is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed, informal and friendly setting over ten thought provoking weekly sessions. The course starts with a taster evening entitled 'Christianity:Boring, Untrue, Irrelevant'

The evening includes a meal and gives participants the opportunity to decide whether they want to proceed with the rest of the course.

What's involved?

The Alpha course consists of a series of DVD talks looking at topics such as 'Who is Jesus?', 'Why did Jesus die?' and 'Why and How do I pray?'. After each talk there will be plenty of opportunities for discussion and questioning.

Who is Alpha for?

People attend for a variety of reasons. Some want to investigate whether God really exists. Others may have attended church occasionally or have some contact with Christianity in the past and now feel the time is right to investigate further.
